... every one who lives there are artists of some sort, and that is how they make their living. it was a beautiful thing to see really, everyone living so simple and at peace away from society, and all making it happen with no electricity, running water, nothing. there were 5 of us camping in the back, and each day we would wake up, make coffee over a natural grill, and relax. they would go off and work, and i would just go around, and enjoying what the nature had to ...
Salvador, State of Bahia, Brazil jpsadventures... food on the grill and headed out to catch a bus to the bus station. Lesson learned…………R 30; NEVER get on a bus with a big suitcase at 5:00 pm in a city. The people pack in the bus. It is crazy. Lucky for me I had 3 older women felt sorry for me not speaking the language so they looked out for me and told me when to get off the bus. The problem was dragging my bag through the crowd.
So, I climbed on a bus and headed to Recife. On the ...
arriving here from Rio was a massive breath of fresh air, beautiful, quiet and birds flying and landing at your feet! my idea of paradise! massive space for yoga and relaxation near to the beach and lovely people who said they enjoy the peace more than the carnage that travel can be also!! :)
Salvador, State of Bahia, Brazil hollywhite... being fanned by their slaves.. The music was so frenetic and lively it was difficult not to start dancing , we kept bumping into this Brazilian guy called Natan, who showed us ther best places to go and who really looked after us, as Enoque did as well, shielding us from potential danger and problems, this is a serious issue as especially late at night, the crowd can get rowdy, and there were some fights , fortunately there were lots of military police nearby who ...
Salvador, State of Bahia, Brazil jon-daniella... me along. I returned her kindness by paying for the taxi there and back. It cost me the equivalent of $10 but would have cost her the equivalent of $50 (considering how much people earn here). It's the little things that count eh...She has also offered for my return next year, that I could stay with her if I'm staying beyond a month, as they have room for an extra person and she'd love to show me around. I'd like that very much as she is a lovely person and ...
Salvador, State of Bahia, Brazil soooz... on the way which is a deep fried bread made from beans with shrimps, spicy sauce, and salad added to it. Sounds better than what it tasted like...maybe it was just the vendor we chose... After a lunch of sandwiches...and another treat which was bascially coconut fudge..mmmm...very nice, Olivia went back to the beach with her book...and some sugar cane that a guy was selling. Yum!! Taj hired a bicycle and went for a cruise around the area. On his travels ...
Salvador, Brazil charlyvaness... ass! Yesterday one man was so obnoxious that I just coughed on him. He was close, ogling, getting closer, being egged on by his mates, and being an oaf, so I winked at Jazzie and hacked out this awful chest rattling honker of a cough in his direction, barely covering it with my hands. I quietly muttered an apology... but it wasn´t heart felt and he knew it. He was obviously disgusted with me but pretended to laugh, it was a ´Carnaval cough´ he said - but he ...
Salvador, Bahia, Brazil soooz... dancing. Was popcorn Thursday and last night, though every time I end up losing whichever friends I´m with because of the crowds. When I walk alone through the streets people tell me that it´s dangerous etc. but frankly there´s police EVERYWHERE. I´ve never seen such a high density of policemen, and they don´t hesitate to act. It´s ahrd work battling through crowds, especially when you´re going against the main flow, but the only real danger is the men ...
Salvador, Brazil betho... com fumo¨. What do you say to that ? Bahia gives a nice feeling and the weather here is warm. The music in the streets makes it even better. With this comes also the begging and the problems on the streets - drugs, mainly cocaine and crack. Having said all this i have not once felt threatened in the streets despite the warnings in the books etc. Maybe by now i do not look like i am worth being robbed !!!!
