Historical Traveler Reviews Bahama House Daytona Beach

    The best!

I stayed at the Bahama house several years ago and would do again. I recommended it to my sister and they loved it as well. I am looking to plan another trip to the area and will probably stay again. The people and location was great!

    Loved Bahama House

My family just returned yesterday from a trip to Daytona. We stayed at the Bahama House Hotel. We had a great experience. Our OceanFront Deluxe Efficiencey was extremely large and very clean. Room service actually beat us up to our room and was waiting when we arrived at the door. The view that we had from the 10th floor was awesome. We were direct oceanfront with an absolutely fabulouse view and the hotel is directly on the beach. The beach was super clean. We also had a view of the Halifax River (we took the little river cruise excursion and actually saw dolphins swimming free, great!!!!). We were able to see the sun setting on the river side and the moon rising on the ocean side at the same time. We also had the view of the tatto parlor but chose to overlook that part of the scenery as I am sure that Bahama House has no control over who their neighbors are and probably arent happy about it either. No need to knock Bahama House for something out of their control. I find it surprising that other guests at Bahama House couldn't find ice since there was an ice machine in a cubby hole place right by the elevators on our floor. No need to "go to a grocery store". We really enjoyed Happy hours and Charkey the Magician who performed for the entire hour. He was a lot of laughs. The pool was clean the jacuzzi was great. Continental Breakfast was everything that we expected it to be and the staff was more than accomodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would go back myself.

    Second Try

I stayed in two different rooms. They both had a view of the tatoo parlor. I was part of a group that reserved 10 rooms. When I asked the front desk for a king size bed so I wouldn't get the same room again, they lied and said they didn't have any. Two hours later, my associate checked in and was given a suite with a king bed. When I asked for ice they told me to run across the street to the Quickie Pickie, but they were out. Had to go to Publix, buy a cooler and ice after paying to stay in "resort". There is no restaurant, only stale bagels for breakfast. This is the second review I have written. The first was never published. Apparently they only allow positive reviews.

    Great view of Tatoo Parlor

I was under the impression that all rooms have views meant Ocean View.

Not so. I had a room with a view of the Adult Video Store, Tatoo Parlor and the Quickie Pickie. Glad I didn't bring the kids. There is no restaurant, no ice machine, no ATM. I stilll can't figure out how they claim to be a Resort. There are no Amenities, but they make you give them a credit card which they reserve $30 for Amenities. We reserved 10 rooms. When I asked for a king size bed, the front desk attendant said they didn't have any. A few hours later they gave my associate a room with a king size bed and ocean view. It even had a refrigerator.

Meanwhile I was told to go the Quickie Pikie if I wated ice, while another member of our group was given a suite with a hot tub (that didn't work) also with a king size bed. I do not recommend this hotel.

    Daytona's Jewel on the Beach!

We live in Columbia, SC and headed to Isle of Palms beach (Charleston, SC) for the weekend, but decided to keep on going and ended up at Daytona Beach, Fl. It was our first trip to Daytona. Since we hadn't planned to go there we didn't have a hotel reservation. We figured we'd wing it. After checking two other Daytona Beach hotels (which weren't suitable) we stopped at the Bahama House. We liked it from the start! The lobby was quite, clean, and had a bright atmosphere. Two clerks were at the front desk, on the phone. When they became free, one told us that they had no vacancies, but the other said she had just received a cancellation over the phone. She offered us a chance to view the oceanfront, efficiency room. The room was clean and in excellent condition, which was a surprise since the hotel is 8 yrs old. It looked more like 1-2 years old. They have lots of complimentary extras like free happy hour drinks (soft drink for kids and hard drinks for the adults), goodie bag at check-in, cookies and bottle water at check-out, etc. The clerks were very personable, friendly, and helpful. We only had one minor complaint. The toilet had to be flushed repeatedly for it work properly. On the upside, the shower had great water pressure! We will definitely return to Daytona Beach and 'plan' to stay at the Bahama House!

    Bahama's the Best!

While in Florida last month, I visited several cities and enjoyed Daytona the most. The Bahama House was by far the cleanest, most quiet and the staff most cordial. the rooms were spacious. Ocean view was great. If ever I am in the area again I would difinitely stay here. Barbara B.

    Rates Scam

I called Bahama House to check the rates and got the run around. I first asked for the nightly rate, which they told me was $129. I had a Canadian Sand Dollar coupon for Bahama House that said "up to 50% off room rates". Even though the coupon said it was valid on the dates I wanted to stay, they told me it wasn't. The person put me on hold for a minute and came back on to say that the quoted price of $129 was the discounted rate at 50% off. The person told me that the regular rate was $258 per night!! Whatever! I could stay at a much nicer 5 star hotel for that!! What a scam. If you stay here, make sure they are not ripping you off!

    Great place - period.

My family decided to try this place out due to a random postcard of junk mail. But this place is not junk - just the opposite. The rooms are spacey enough for 4 and include a lil kitchen - you can even shop @ a grocery store down the street. Getting a room w/ an ocean view gives this hotel just the right touch. And don't forget the nice little continental breakfast and pool/hot tub!

We took our family to Daytona Beach for Christmas

vacation. We stayed at the Bahama House.. It was

GREAT!! Rooms very nice, all around very nice place to stay.. Cant wait to go back again this year..

    Bahama, yeah mama!

we were in the Daytona area and happened on the Bahama House by mistake. I was most pleasntly surprised. Not only were we offered a room, but the chance to look at it to decide if we wanted to stay. It was a lovely corner room on the 5th floor, I had a view of Atlantic Ave and the ocean from the balcony. The room was clean, with a small kitchenette. The refigerator, utensils, plates, pans, etc. were in good condition. The room smelled clean and the furniture etc was in good shape. The hotel was quite nice, the atmosphere was great. The continetal breakfast was appealing in a nice setting and not to mention the guest happy hour, that was great. We were steps from the beach and my child thoroughly enjoyed the pool. The hot tub was wonderful, it was actually hot! The staff was most helpful and always pleasant. I liked it so well, I opted to stay on my return trip back home, so we stayed twice in a week period. I would defintely return.

I bascially fell in love with the Bahama House. If I were on an extended stay, for a family of 3, it fit the bill. For Daytona accomodations, it was great!

Quiet this morning and I was up with the sun as my pancake mattress was a little uncomfortable. Packed up our tent after breakfast and was very well behaved as we did not make noise to wake up the neighbors, although I really did fancy getting a wooden spoon and dinging a saucepan outside their RV. We drove for 7 hours before we arrived at Daytona Beach due to road works. At one point In our journey we were behind a driver after Tallahassee and he was weaving and then went ...

After a final walk around Key West to some of the famous tourist spots - Hemingway's house, end of Hwy A1A, and a picture at the Southern Most point in the continental US (just 90 miles to Cuba), we hit the road north. A stop at Biscayne Bay NP was a nice stop, and again we seemed to have the park to ourselves. Most of this park is also underwater, but we saw a few videos at the visitors center, and walked along a few of the boardwalks. We saw a ...

They have a web cam always on the stage, so if you want a little taste of Key West, Google Smoking Tuna and enjoy a little of Key West. Our day ended on the beach next the hotel, sitting on chairs with our feet in the sand, looking at the stars. A short time in Key West, but we will be back. ... sulfur taste. Both of us did take drinks. With Melva it was hard to tell any difference as she looks like a young girl all the time. As for me, I drank 5 gallons of the water and it didn't do me any good. Too far gone I guess. The rest of the park was dedicated to Ponce de Leon and the first settlement in Florida. Interesting displays and presentations of the life in the city of the Americas.

    Looking forward to Savannah GA

... in the hearts of our cities, DB has a 2.5 mile high banked oval in the centre of its downtown area. All the streets and roads are named with racing references.

Five minutes short of the Triumph dealership I found a small strip mall (aptly named!) off a side street backed up against a small stand of trees. I used the wooded area to change out of my riding clothes and to pack a small bag. I am sure if I showed ...
