Badlands Wilderness Ranch Wells

... puttered along at 20MPH out a-way-a-ways (that's the technical term) until I could no longer see the entrance. That was far enough. It would be very easy to get disoriented on the flats. Now that I think about it, I wonder what it would be like to camp there overnight. Hmmmmm.<br><br>Nobody was racing or attempting any speed records, but it was still worth getting there.

Just a couple more days on the road and then we'll be back home. We&#8217;re in a good rhythm with car driving. We typically cover about 500 miles a day. David here with our first real travel blog entry. <br><br> We are off on our adventure today. I had planned to get us out at 6:00 am as we have a long drive ahead of us. We did manage to leave at 6:42 which is not bad for this crew. The Integra was packed to the gills with even a new roof top bag on top. Today we drove over 500 miles to northwest Nevada. I will never again complain about the ride to my sister Margaret's. Today's drive was mostly desert, scrub, more desert and more scrub. We left Pacifica/San Francisco where it was about 55 degrees and really foggy. Soon it was back to the desert and 90 degrees. Tomorrow we are scheduled to reach Yellowstone.

Today we drove through 4 states, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Nevada. Driving through Nevada was very desolate. We arrived at our campsite after six hours. We then ate dinner and got groceries. Then we went to a park to play. -Adam Mom beat our butts in tetherball :( :(

After a long trip through both Montana and Nevada, we arrived at a city called Wells, recomended to us as a place to stay before continuing on toward Reno by some outstanding young lad working at Subway (eat frrresh!). Along the way we drove through the sierras of Nevada and peaked at an elevation of about 2000m. The drive was remarkably uninteresting (Saskatchewan-like) except the terrain was barren ...

... drove straight through to Wells, Nevada, where we stayed at a nice campground, with immaculately CLEAN restrooms. The owner was very nice, and even gave the kids a free ice-cream. We were devastated to hear on the news that a 4 year old girl had fallen off Mather's Point in the Grand Canyon earlier in the day, we were only on that Point 5 days ago. I really feel for the family of that poor wee one, and for all who witnessed such a traumatic event.

When we packed our mules, it was 8degC and sunny. The road we were on was perfect. Nice and curvy with mountains and a roaring river on the side. This road took us from 5000 ft to 8700ft and 2degC. Brrrrrrrr. Did we mention snow and wind? It only got to a high of 10C today. This is your fresh air inspection report from Southern Idaho and Northern Nevada.
