      Hi Family and Friends,

      Although it sounds like the battle cry of the Luftwaffe the harsh phonetics of its name certainly belie this beautiful soft and inviting city. .It really is a modern, technically industrialized city meeting the medieval past. I wasn't sure what to expect and had pinpointed this stop as more so a stepping stone down to Munich. I have been pleasantly surprised.

      ... trainee friends who is also living in Ulm right now, (Shoutout to Andriy!), realize that we would not be able to get any groceries upon arrival, so he so graciously offered to get us a few things to start us off. He even walked them over to our apartment in the snow! Boy was he a life saver for doing that for us!

      ... us feel very comfortable since quite a few things we've owned in the past, and have now at our apartment in Charlotte, have come from IKEA.

      As far as appliances go here in Europe, we heard that not many people have dishwashers or dryers in their homes, as they tend to use a lot of energy.       ... grabbed our luggage (which was a very speedy process, surprisingly), and headed to pick up our rental car. We ended up with a little Mercedes Benz wagon, which was very nice. It's funny to me how Mercedes Benz, BMWs, Volvos, and Audis are "typical" cars for Europeans. Whereas, in the U.S., those are considered more "luxury cars".
