We had sort of a free day today. We started with Winfried and the bird watching group but left them at their first stop. A group of seven of us headed to the lighthouse at the end of the island. Once we parked and locked our bikes we walked to the lighthouse where some went looking for a bathroom and Phil, Deb and I went straight to the lighthouse. The three of us climbed to the top and essentially ...

We saw some ...

I got to Ujst pretty easily and enjoyed the ride, it is a nice little town with water running through it in all directions and ...

Found the site easily enough even though I had forgotten the address. It was further out of the way than we expected which was nice. The temperature was around 32c when we arrived so we enjoyed laying out in the shade and going for a dip in the murky river. After a bbq we spent the evening sat next to the river and watched the sunset, perfect start to our hols and we stayed in Heeg for 3 ...

Hans and Anka picked up us at the hotel about 9:30. We went to visit the parents of Anka and Nieske. Their mother Gepke and Joel's father John were cousins. Their mothers were sisters. John's mother Bertha was the only one in her family to emigrate to the U.S. In 1910 after marrying Joe Kooistra.
Even though Gepke never visited the U.S. because of poor health, her English is perfect. She is 88 years old. Her husband ...
