    ... quite funny. Suffice it to say, the communication barrier should not be taken for granted. Even hand gestures, that we think universal.....are in China, not so much. We are in a very Chinese part of Beijing. I have not seen a Caucasian here yet.

    The next day, a member of the hostel staff took us for an authentic and traditional Chinese breakfast in our hutong called Lian Lian. Strange soup ...

    ... friends. Today is the Beijing Craft Beer Festival- as it turns out, microbreweries are gaining a lot of popularity here, and are producing quality products. The Beer Festival is being hosted at Soho Galaxy, which is a giant set of orbs (Earle- you showed me a picture of Galaxy in architectural digest!). I'm excited to see what it looks like at night!

    Since then, Huizhong has returned to Beijing with her husband and two children, and is part of a team of educators creating an "out of the box" school on about 30 acres on the outskirts of Beijing in the District of Chang Ping. The private RiRi Xin School is currently pre-k to 6th grade, but plans to at some point provide education through high school.
