      ... day machines. I hate to think how many lost their lives in all this construction.

      Finally down the pass and into the wonderful historic town of Bormio where I take a left turn towards Gavia pass.

      In all the times I have been to this area I have never yet managed to get over this pass and so its a new road to add to my list.

      I follow the river out of Bormio and pass through some of the old and wonderful historic buildings and am finally onto the main ...

      Now - that was stupid!

      ... up into the mountains. Everyone fired up! We hopped off the cable car - glanced around and decided we just had to have a group photo - it was that beautiful! We haven't had much in the way of blue skies and so we needed to take full advantage! And then we headed off on the path - up and down - gentle walking! Stopped for espresso at a little restaurant - and then headed off again. Taking lots of pictures, of course! :-). ...

      ... supermarket to get some happy hour supplies - but the stores all close around here from noon or so to four o'clock for siesta .. No dice!

      Arrived back at the hotel around two o'clock. Might be time for some lunch. :-). So we walked through the town of Alba to this pizza place we had noticed on the way home! Great pizza over here. Very thin crust - cooked in a wood oven - really tasty! And of course, pizza goes ...

      ... was more like testing the breaks and at every other turn I had to stop for a few photos. We have stopped so much that we almost arrived late to our destination which was a small village a bit off the beaten track. It was actually very small. Had more mountains surrounding the village then houses in total in it.

      We got in and settled, so was time to check out the local "trattoria" one can eat great meals all fresh and local products almost anywhere on the road or any place. ...

      ... charm to it. The people running it are absolutely amazing too. They do everything they can't o make you feel welcome and at home. Only one of the people in Jorge accommodation speaks English and as a result I have been pulling out the German. I can tell you now, my German is horribly basic! Haha but (to give myself credit) it is really hard to speak German when in Italy and everyone else is speaking Italian. ...
