... the magnificent Grossglockner drive we head to Hallstatt a small authentic Austrian village perched on the edge of the lake. Pop 720 and the men dress in leather pants and Austrian ladies look like dolls in their traditional dresses……. except for the 3000 Japanese and American tourists it’s Austrian Fairy land. We had arrived in late and nearly all the hotel/pensions were full and I don’t think they needed a couple of Aussies to add to the mix. Five kms away ...

    ... happy to start working again, now I was sure I had been going downhill because the walk back was certainly uphill. The lift was closed. I was frightened, not the impossimountain again, the wind was visibly whipping the snow up into the air at 45 degrees. I had that feeling of being able to feel my skull because it was so cold.
