... was about two minutes ahead of me so i had more fun watching the expressions on his face rather than the actual massage! He looked in pain for a good 75% of the time despite the small size of his massuse. My massuse on the other hand was slight bigger, ok well actually around 2 to 3 times bigger and at times i did fear for my life. I resigned myself to the fact that one small mistake by her and i'd be in a lot of pain, probably for life. However, she done me proud and was very gentle.

Chiang Mai, Thailand leehollywood01we arrived in chiang Mai at 8am after being on the night train and went for breakfast before going on an organised trip. This was to ride the elephants in the jungle and through rivers (where they apparently filmed Rambo 4!) and then float on a bamboo raft down the river, which was really good (check out the funny hats!)
<br ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand zoeandgigs... do that if they saw a tiger? And so we tentatively approach our first tiger, one of our crew forgetting advice point number 5 and electrocuting himself on the fence. The tiger takes a glance at us, realises that not even Dudley is a decent challenge for a fight and graciously allows us all to approach and have some holiday snaps taken. They aren’t quite as smooth as one would expect. Their fur is somewhat rough, an unexpected reminder of the true nature of these beasts. They aren ...
Chang Mai, Chiang Mai, Thailand allanboyd... to eat out then grocery shop in Chiang Mai so apartments don't have full kitchens!) and a nice clean bathroom with cold and hot water that doesn't run out. Woohoo! We also have a nice balcony overlooking the city and mountains.

A bit of a backtrack
Before leaving Nepal, on one of the last nights, Sue, Bjoern and I saw 4 kids carrying large sacks of cardboard on their backs. They looked disheveled and were obviously street kids. We ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand joannabee... line of orange robes walking by. I was invited to participate in the alms giving by a 19yr old girl that worked at our hotel that Will and I befriended. I kneeled on a mat next to her and her family on the side of the road and was taught how to give the monks each little balls of sticky rice. Although I have very limited knowledge of the Buddhist religion and culture, the whole experience was really quite touching. We were then shown how to place an offering ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand sarahandwill... After venturing to a large shopping mall I managed to find a cheap knock off version for $11. You've gotta love Thailand.

Driving a moto allows you to break almost all traffic laws. You aren't asked for a drivers license and its common to see people going the wrong way on a one way. I made several illegal U-turns but nobody seems to mind as long as you're not in a car. It's really fun but its also frustrating trying to find a specific ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand dfleege... in mud and playing in a wide open field, Fa Mae pinned to her mother's side for moral support as she discovered the world outside her pen for the first time. We walked with Lek and a few other volunteers and mahouts to bring them back to their enclosure and their mahout hosed water into mom's trunk for her to drink, while Fa Mae tumbled into the small tub of water and tried to fill her trunk. Her skills still not developed, she decided to just ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand kristinm1313... to hand it too the meat seller they would rush up to the front of the cage and jump up waiting to get fed. This was pretty intimidating seeing as how the only thing separating this huge predator from you is a normal chain link fence, the same size wire that would be used in someone's backyard. We took a video feeding one of the leopards, so hopefully I will be able to get it to load on the site. After ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand kbreeze... cold keeping the driver awake rather than him taking any dodgy substances) so i managed to do a quick change and give Jordy my t-shirt and just wear my hoody and thoroughly bundle up in my sleep sheet (god bless you Ms. Putnam!!) Flying and freezing, we continued up to Chiang Mai, stopping once or twice for snacks and supplies, people relished this as it was actually warmer outside than on the bus not a great deal warmer but warmer none the less! Me and Jordy and a ...
