So we'd smashed a lot of Mexico into a couple of days of serious bus tripping, to be fair the heat in the hotels/ hostels was so bad the buses were much easier to sleep in. We arrived into Playa Del Carmen around noon and fortunately were based just off the main street at a nice backpacker hostel which actually had other people! ... restaurant there and have some traditional Mayan pork. Fantastic. Jump on the bus for a sleep and the long ride back to Playa. Get back to the hostel in time to Skype and FaceTime the families for Christmas back home.
