Excellent hotel, didn't expect such a good standard from Best Western if I'm honest, but it is a Plus type; breakfast was good, rooms lovely, beds comfy, staff friendly, and the wireless internet was excellent. Laundry was available downstairs too, $9 for a load including washing, drying, and detergent.

Some final reading of directions, including watching a video of a cool new tool to be used for filling out our observation forms. An electronic pen that captures what you write on the forms and transmits it through a smart phone to HQ. And thankfully there is a back up plan too. :-) Off to dinner with "the girls" for final goodbyes before the big adventure. I felt guilty departing ...

After a couple bottles of complementary wine and a fairly decent airline meal, I was able to get a number of hours of sleep. Gotta love the power of gravol! We land in Zurich without a hitch and I prepare for my 4 hour layover. With the intention of writing my first blog entry, I settle into the bar... So it was just after 9am in Switzerland... for me it was ...

We again left this set early and walked our way back to Mischa's house where we had a few more beers and then headed to town where we met up with the rest of the boys. Jenny was in town with her friends so we all got together. Some people went home, we went to get pizza before we went ...

... size of a regular milkshake at home. Thankfully we shared.
After dinner we headed out to an Irish pub called the Heart and Crown where one of Beths friends joined us. We had a few drinks there before moving onto the oldest bar in Ottawa called Chateau Laffayette aka The Laff. It was first opened in 1846. We had a crazy drunk granny (a local? She looked like she had been around since it opened in 1846) as free entertainment, she ...
