... and found our way here. 259 kms on my bike for the whole trip. We immediately found a boulangarie as it was now 3.30 pm and we hadn't had lunch. We sat on the promenade and watched the hundreds of people on the beach - it looked like a hundreds and thousands sandwich. We decided a dip in the English Channel was in order before our showers. The tide was rapidly coming in as it does here. Before dinner we had another farewell bike ride along ...

It rained a lot during the night, quite loud on our attic roof. We had planned a slower start to the day, but on checking the weather forecast we found there was a window of dry weather between 7 and 11am . We have become very practiced at packing up and loading the bikes and so did it in record time this morning. Downstairs, there was not a person around and no sign of breakfast although it was 7.45am so we decided to head away. We rode out to Mont St Michel along a dedicated bike ...

The weather forecast is still showing rain so fingers crossed we will get another dry day. When we check in at the hotels they are always take a lot of time to explain that if we come in after 11pm we would need a special code as the reception is closed. We think it's funny as that's the last thing on our minds. We are lucky to still be awake at 10 pm. Tonight will be no ...

We planned to get up early and as it happened it wasn't difficult. Although our hotel was lovely and a prime position in the town, our room on the ground floor was pretty much on the footpath. It was also a busy road with cars and people walking so the night was noisy. They did us a favour though as by 7.35 am we were on our bikes and heading out along the cobbled streets. I wore tights to protect my legs from the sun but as we left the town it was so ...

... the old city. It is glorious. We viewed the forts again. The three forts were built on the rocks just to the north of the town; the Petit Bé, the Grand Bé and Fort National. We then walked along the Esplanade to the new part of the city. We bought fruit and water and headed back. It only cost E 50 cents for a small bottle of cold water. Amazing, particularly as this is peak season. Next we went for a dip in the ocean nearest to ...
