    Will write this up as time permits but the highlight for me today was the visit to a little village called Apremont which is very proud of being beautiful and rightly so http://www.apremont-sur-allier.com/the% 20village.html

    Before that we went to the city of Nevers.

    Up and off on time. We road up and down a local road to warm up then we headed straight up to Sancerre, a hilltop, medieval village. It was 3kms up. I took it nice and steady and was able to achieve the climb without stopping or getting off.

    What a wonderful spot! Narrow little streets, a wee square with cafes, patisserie surronding it. We sat and had a coffee to let the rest ...

    ... before dinner, making our efforts seem more worthwhile. We also tasted the red wine of Sancerre, a pinot noir, which was excellent. Sancerre also has a long history of violence and warfare during the French religious wars when Catholics and Protestants fought for control of the region, with the Protestants eventually fleeing. I'll leave further research for those interested.

    ... Latin Quarter, past Notre Dame, the Opera House, the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe. We then headed on to Versailles after dropping off those not doing it at the Arc de Triomphe. Julien showed us around the castle of Versailles which was absolutely beautiful!!
