    ... decided to go for the bike ride regardless. With the bikes off loaded and the dogs trailer assembled and attached off we set, first setback, the cycle path access point was blocked due to roadworks, not to be put off we went up and over the flood barrier and continued on our ride.     We save the best for last - visiting the incredible Chateau de Chenonceau built spanning the River Cher in the 16th Century. The architecture of this castle is unique in the world, and it is the most visited in the Loire Valley. It is well furnished, and has so many gorgeous original artworks that it qualifies as an art museum in its own right.

    We have eaten out so much here and have had no menu disasters. I have to admit that my attempts at menu translating before coming really helped out. Roger's ordering at lunch today let him down a bit, but it certainly it wasn't a disaster. He thought he was ordering pork but ended up getting fish. We have seen a few unusual things on menus and I know French people like offal but I was surprised to see braised cheek of pig farmer on offer. The weather was great ...
