... until we felt it appropriate to enter the crypt. it was lovely and warm down there and we nearly choked on all the incense!
The walls of the crypt are covered in messages of thanks to St Martin for protection. Many of these are from soldiers at times of war and conflict.
We went out into the cold again ...
... cold outside.
We have 'done' the Loire valley several times, but cannot remember visiting Tours. Although it is Sunday tomorrow, there is a bus into the city centre, so we have decided to go and have a look around. we are going to stay here for 2 nights and then make a dash for the Channel!
Quick update, there was a little bit of snow today!! I was in English Class and my friend suddenly said "Hannah! Look! It's snowing!" (In French). It was raining and snowing too, it was so pretty because it was gentle and in flurries.
... ve never enjoyed breakfast as much as I have here. I'll miss getting macarons at lunch (I'll have to try to make those since I'm obsessed). I'll miss my host mom's cooking. I'll even miss walking home at 3 in the morning through the empty streets of Tours. I'll honestly miss it all and its been a wonderful experience I will never forget. Now it's time to live in up the next 10 days, hopefully pass the DELF, and try to 4.0 the rest of my classes (pray for me). ...
... the feast.
Alida had a great time eating fresh pasta with pesto and tomatoes in their garden. Herhost mother insisted that she watch Twelve Years A Slave, and she put on the French audio with English subtitles.
Lizzie helped her host family cook last night, and they had their very first "BBQ" of the season. She graciously ate ratatouille even though she's not a fan of some of the main ingredients, and then she went for a leisurely run afterward.
