... their sense of humor.
Most annoying sentence: "Tuk, Tuk? Where are you going?" Every corner has a Tuk-Tuk driver waiting for a deal.
Most stylish outfit seen so far: Monk dressed in obligatory orange sarong-thing with orange Crocs. :) love it.
Most lovable thing so far: the spirit houses. They are little temple like houses in front of homes to encourage spirits to live independently from the family but to remain comfortable ...

by the locals while betting (as soon as i bet my guy just fell over
in the next round) i picked up a few things and i figured that no
Elephant Driver was going to beat a Elephant on my watch, so the
Guide said that yes i could drive him, my two fellow passengers were
Kerstin from Germany and Alex from Austria, cool people...as you can
see from the Photos our Elephant was a big boy (well he would need to
be with a big Irish lad full of Whiskey on his neck) and ...

Chang Mai, Chiang Mai, Thailand gledipinnar... by getting tucked up by a taxi driver who over charged us but its ok, we live and learn. The weather got progressively worse the further up the mountain we got, rain and low cloud. No matter we had a nice time exploring the Temple and LJ had more fun trying to count the 306 steps upto the temple (she lost count on the way up and forgot halfway down as I stopped to take photos).
With a drifting mist as we wandered around the temple it made it feel even more mystical (not ...
... had been looking forward to Thursday ever since we started planning this trip. Thursday was cooking class day at the “A Lot of Thai” cooking school. A vintage 1970 VW Bus arrived at the B&B at 9:30 to pick us up for our day of culinary discovery. Turns out there was a Belgian couple staying at the same place we were who were also signed up for the class. School is located on the patio of Yui’s house on the south side of town, and was ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand bethere... a half a mile away. I wait there until I think Shane is finished. I give him 20, and no luck. I give him 20 more and find his bald head smiling at me from the median near the border.
We pulled into Chiang Rai at about 6:30PM and with a little confusion from an erroneous map we find the guesthouse. Tucked away in the middle of Chiang Rai, a nice little garden with a fountain and cheap rooms. We split a double bed room for 180 Baht. $3.00 American each. I had ...
... and we were out of the centre of town. We then the started the really very pretty drive up the hill to the wat, it was a very nice one too. Shiny but not quite as impressive as the Chang Rai one, but then, no wat is going to compare after that. Anyway is was very nice as the views over Chang Mai were good to see. Lastly we decided to hit one more wat, a jungle one so very different again, with tunnels and stuff. There were lots of poignant phrases on boards ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand emmaandemma... a large overnight bus to Bangkok. This was to be a 12 + hour bus ride and so we paid extra money to get the "VIP-first class" overnight bus. Besides the smiley stewardess that brought us handfuls of beverages and a bun with weird, sticky, brown stuff in the middle (still never found out what it was) we really do not know what made this a "VIP" bus. The seats were uncomfortable, the toilet stunk up the entire bus horribly, and the AC blew very musty ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand katenclint... a black dog decided to get up and walk out, which I had not seen sat in there at all when I entered! After lunch, we went rafting on bamboo rafts. They were around twenty feet long, with eight poles tied side b y side. Four of us sat one behind the other, with a guide stood at the front. A short way in to the ride, I was offered the chance to guide the raft from the front, which felt like being on a gondolier in Venice! The water had been ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand eddiemetal... Then caught a tuk tuk to the night bazaar and bought lots of stuff. Earlier in the day we wandered down a cute lane (soi) and found a massage place. I had a full body oil massage 200B ($6.80) for 1 hour and Nathan, a traditional Thai massage where you dress in Kung fu clothes. All very nice. Nathan thinks it’s OK. Changed another $400 Aus ...
