    ... whiff of chlorine (don't know how they did it...) and bordered by vines, roses and story book patches of strawberries and - would you believe - raspberries. Imagine hangin' over the edge of the pool, looking our at the vines and idly reaching down to pick a ripe raspberry. The boys loved it, but unfortunately, Jackie's intolerance of chlorine saw her missing out on this delight. Lynn and Phil got in the annual quota of sunbathing, punctuated by pool visits.

    After a few days back in England after our trip from Barcelona we went to the Port of Dover, famous for the song 'The White Cliffs of Dover' sung by Vera Lynn. We then caught a ferry ( by we, I mean us and our cars), and arrived in the French port of Calais roughly forty minutes afterwards. Only a few minutes after we had set out from Dover you could see the coastline of France across the English Channel, or as the French call it, 'La Manche'.
