We are staying here for another day. We aren't sure yet where we will go after this. But there are several places that we are considering, including Orleans, Blois and Chinon. Hugely misty this morning. Getting out of Nantes was a bit of a nightmare as Snooper froze again. I suppose that she wasn't getting a good gps signal with all the trees. ... side of the hills and there are still numerous homes used today. Back in the bus and off to Château Villandry. This was a beautiful château built on ancient Roman ruins. It also had magnificent gardens which Max admired with envy! Apparently they have 13 full time gardeners plus apprencitices! Our day concluded with wine tasting where we learnt to distinguish the taste between grapes grown in sandy soil and that grown in more chalk based soil and wines ...
... and got directions from two chaps - at the same time - all in French. However, the arm waving did help somewhat and eventually, we found a sign which more or less pointed us in the right direction. Oh boy, were we glad we were not towing our caravan!! Went for a drive to explore some more castles today. Went to Blois and Chambord. While Chenonceau is rated as the nicest castle to visit in the Loire, I think the honors should really go to Chateau Chambord. It is the epitome of what a castle is. It is quite magnificent, and so is the French countryside.
