A Wonderland for Walkers

... meet up, we headed for the high-speed ICE train of the Deutsche Bahn that would get us to Frankfurt in no time at all.

Pam and Glenn Said:

We both enjoyed this medieval town dating back to 1071. We walked the old town within the walls and saw vistas of the town from the old castle. We enjoyed great espresso, one of Chad’s favorites at a little café. We now get to ride the DB train to Frankfurt.

... get ice cream for desert. We all met back up at the train station and headed home.

I really enjoy our little day trips, but they kind of throw a kink in the week. It just leaves you with one less day to work with, but hey, I’m in Europe, I don’t need time. I’ll have time when I get back to The States. We have a few more planned, one to the BMW Museum and another Infineon factory and possibly a few other museums. Oh, and hopefully a soccer game! That will be very fun!!

Another Medieval Town

Had to get up early in order to catch the 8:30 tour of Bamberg. Buses took us into town for our walking tour. One of the special places to see was the old Town Hall which is in the middle of the bridge between the two sides of the city. Originally one side was the Prince/Bishops and the other the common people and they shared the town hall. It is painted in elaborate Baroque style. The town was established in 1007 and the buildings were of half-timber construction ...

A Quiet Sunday

Today, right after breakfast, we crossed the European Continental Divide. We went into a lock that dropped us down 81 ft. At the bottom it was, as our tour guide said, like being a spider in a bathtub with concrete walls rising up just inches from the sides of the ship.
We docked at ...

BAMBERG BACON, GERMANY

... had to take the old uncomfortable one...and it was even darker, and know I had no light. Damn! My bum hurt the next day. But that night we actually had to change hotels because the hostel was hosting about 50 8th graders! They came the night before and made more noise then I thought possible. We were happy to leave. So we changed to another hotel just down the street.

The next morning we got the bus and were off to Heidelberg.

Go Icetigers Go!

... 8230;This team happens to be in the german league and is the home team to Nuremburg! So we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch a home game of our beloved team!

The local fans are intense. Coming in full fan gear of scarves, jerseys, flags and some even brought tamtams that were miked up to increase the energy of the crowd! Me and Chris got scarves and a pretzel and beer and sat to ...

Beware the falling Acorns!

... of Nuremburg on day 2! Nuremberg is famous for being the city where Hitler condemned the Jews and lots of other ****** stuff so obviously it was bombed to hell in World War 2. Very little of the original buildings remain. The walls to the center of the city are still there in most places and the churches are still being rebuilt in certain places but they restored the city very nicely and it still has ...

Ultimate Tournament

... quick two points to steal the win from us, but it was a very spirited game and we all commented on how great it was to battle it out with such intensity. Our final game was tiring for me as I had been playing for most of the points in the other two games, but we got an easy win nonetheless.

As i mentioned earlier, I had a lot of chances to handle and with some people I've played with before ...

Christmas Festivals Begin

... Really the only thing missing is a few snow flakes (but I’m sure those will be on their way soon enough.)

School has been pretty busy lately. Classes have their normal routine, but there are additional things such as meetings and a birthday celebration for the director of the school…which strangely enough she singled me out as a 'great young international teacher’ told everyone the story of K College and why ...

The Berg - aka Octoberfest for Germans

I fell lighter already. I just mentally tossed all the useless small coins which remain after being in a country, and which cannot be changed into money in the next country. I hate to say it (given its strength versus the dollar), but it is good to be back to the quasi-universal Euro. Each country before was like a monetary NASCAR race, where you are trying to cross the border (finish line) with just enough money (fuel) to make it ...
