... morning market and we had been told by Stephen & Vicky that it was well worth a visit. Well the weather didn't clear up and it was still rainy & dreary and to be honest we probably should have stayed in. A quick circuit of the markets (which were very ordinary compared to some we have visited) we headed to a boys adventure playground.......a tank museum! Oh well......I guess my reign of markets, shops and pretty villages had to come to an end sometime. Well ...
... it to the wheel and climbed aboard for a quick (very quick) 2 times around, just enough to take in the sights from above and rest our legs for a moment. On the way home.....legs begging us to stop.....we stopped at the famous "love lock bridge" Pont des Arts. Bernie had bought a lock and had it engraved with all our names on it and was really excited to place it on this special landmark in this very special city. It's quite a remarkable sight actually. In addition to seeing many châteaux and wine tasting, our highlight was staying with a wonderful french family in the Loire Valley. Thank you so much Bruno, Cathy and Nils for your fantastic hospitality, it truly made for a great stay in the Valley de Loire ...

... I found much more delight in the kitchen garden where in late summer all of the vegetables and flowers are at their peak and there is a cacophony of colors and an abundance of apples,pears,beans, tomatoes, all varieties of squashes and of course aubergine to be harvested.
I was thrilled when I discovered a perfect pink dahlia that was as large as a dinner plate. Next we went to the gardens at Villandry. More on that later.
