On Saturday morning we packed up Lynn and Phil's house (well, to be fair, Lynn, Phil and Jackie did. I sort of hung around) in anticipation of the later arrival of the Caen apartment owners who did a house swap with Phil and Lynn.

By 8.15am we were away in the superb Skoda Superb and Lynn's racy Peugeot 308 cabriolet to Dover. We got there and waited below the white cliffs for our ferry to Calais. Totally unlike the Barcelona experience, this was ...

Once again we're having unusually nice weather. Last week it was cold & rainy. This afternoon we are sailing back to Paris... Some are touring Versailles & we will pick them up along the river somewhere. I'm enjoying my panoramic windows open and listening to the birds & ...

... sooner or later staying in the Loire valley.....and we did! We woke the next morning to......sunshine! Yay! We had a renewed spring in our step and high hopes for a successful day of chateau hunting. We stuck to the good old lonely planet guide to increase our chances. A 90 min drive away was Chambord, a vast chateau standing in the middle of a forested park. Built for King Francois purely for his hunting pleasure it is very grand and very OPEN! We made our way ...
