Paris, France enjohnson12:00pm So, this must be the Louvre Museum. It's so pretty, I just love the pyramid outside the building! It has so many beautiful paintings and sculptures. I never knew that the Louvre was, at first, a palace for Louis XIV. The Mona Lisa is so beautiful. It's also known as La Gioconda in Italy. I wonder why some people think the Mona Lisa is a painting of Francesco del Giocondo's wife. It was passed down through so many people for three centuries, even Napoleon I had it hanging in his bedroo...
Paris, France enjohnsonWow! This must be Notre Dame! It is a Gothic cathedral ( a style of architecture during the medieval time period). It is quite an interesting building. It is used as a Roman Catholic cathedral. I didn't know Notre Dame meant "Our Lady" in French. It's sculptures and stained glass windows look so dark from the outside. During the French Revolution, parts of the cathedral was destroyed such as the statues of biblical kings. It's surrounded by the Seine River on an island called Cite. It's beaut...
Paris, France enjohnsonBoy, that was a long trip! I never knew Paris, France was located near the Seine River. I am just now getting to my hotel in Paris after a long ride on that airplane! The hotel is within minutes of the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Park. I'm so tired but there is so much too see. Just look at this hotel room! I must go see the Eiffel Tower right away! Maybe I'm being to hasty, first I need to unpack. It's kind of chilly over here, good thing I packed my light sweaters! So, I guess I will c...
Paris, France enjohnsonI been waiting to see the tower throughout this whole trip! Better to save the best for last. The Eiffel Tower is the tallest building in Paris and the fifth tallest building in France! It's so pretty at night! I could stay here and look at it forever! I can't believe the tower was originally planned to be built in Barcelona! Luckily, their city hall didn't like the idea of the tower being built in the city so the plan was moved to Paris. The Eiffel was actually used for communication purpose...
Paris, France enjohnsonSo, this must be the exhibition park. It's really big and there are so many people here! I wonder if there are any fairs or seminars going on right now. This is the most active business center in the whole city! It's the host of many national and international events. It also hosts workshops, conventions, forums, and product launches. Boy I'm hungry, I wonder if there are any restaurants around. I here that a restaurant called Findi is a pretty good restaurant, maybe I'll eat there for dinner...
Paris, France enjohnson... type thing. The next course was a cheese course and the final course was of course dessert! Once it got dark around 11pm the fireworks started. We got great views of the fireworks and the Eiffel Tower all at once. After the fireworks the DJ on the boat started playing music so we danced all the way back to the port. We got home at about 2am. It was a really fun way to spend Bastille Day in Paris! We had a great time!
Paris, France felixetmarie... show after all. On my way down to the ground floor (or whatever it is that is below that but still above ground), one of the people that works at the foyer tried talking with me; I tried my best with the french I haven't used in years... he told me I was doing pretty good but I know I sounded like a child (very basic, if even complete sentences). Then I caugth the metro to the Gardens des Tuillers (butchered the spelling of that) and went to check out the Musee ...
Paris, France amkohler... many in Italy do. We did the Notre Dame thing, then wandered in the Latin Quarter. This was by far my favorite area of Paris. It's the student quarter, so a lot of young people around, good shops, restaurants, cafes, and amazing atmosphere. We stopped at a café for lunch (yet another ham and cheese baguette!) and were surprised to see that it started snowing! It was amazing to see snow, and I was glad to be bundled in a nice warm café. We were there for quite a while before we ...
