... was considered an international flight. Lucia told us that she was going to miss all of us and gave us her email address so if were ever in Beijing again to let her know. She was starting to tear up a bit too. It was upsetting to leave her because we were with her for 4 days and she really was a great tour guide. ... the hotel by 9am. First stop was Mangyongdae Native house, the birthplace of President Kim Il Sung and where he spent the earliest years of his life. It was essentially a traditional straw house set in a pretty grassy area dotted with trees. We couldn't work out whether this was actually were he was born or another propaganda stunt, however the house seemed quite out of place! As usual we got the VIP treatment with the locals having to queue ...

... you not to touch the bronze statues cordoned off, all the Chinese were leaning over to give everything a good rub. As a result, all the bronze statues are being worn away and large shiny patches on them. But as with everything, if there is an opportunity to ruin it, the Chinese will be right there. Towards the northern end are the 'gardens'. These gardens are displays of weathered rocks - all worn away into pretty shapes! Also some strange shaped trees that look like they ...
