... bus. Didn't realise as I left my bags in line and popped over to get a double espresso to wake me up, turned around to find the bus there and everyone else on board. Rushed back (with my coffee) just in time to board. So I was very early for my check-in. Was allowed 23kg and my bag weighed 21kg. ... Glen was prepared and had a t-shirt in his bag (they are very strict). The boat took ages and we didn't arrive at St Marks until 5.10pm only to find out it shuts at 5pm! GUTTED. More exploring through Venice and we decided we would treat ourselves to dinner in front of the Rialto bridge. Of course they charge extra to sit outside and for the view but it was lovely and we throughly enjoyed our first taste of Italian Pasta and a very expensive but delicious bottle of red.
... After a leisurely breakfast made on our two burner stove, we did a nice walk from the Rialto Bridge through the produce and fish markets that were packed with fresh veggies and fruit. Travelling through the San Polo District wandering down shopping streets that got less touristy the further away from the Rialto Bridge we walked ending up at Frari Church.

... looked like all the existing guests onboard would be disembarking tomorrow. We are still not sure how this worked for those passengers that embarked at Bari or Istanbul. It wasn’t made clear if by ‘the Russians’ it is meant that an Oligarch had chartered the ship or just a travel agent. We shall be keeping a close eye on the ships movements in the week to come!!

And to close my day, I attended a Baroque chamber music concert centering on the compositions of Antonio Vivaldi. This delightful performance (including 3 encores) took place at the Church of San Vidal, which lies practically around the corner from my hotel.
Whew! Quite a day! More tomorrow about the most famous Venetian artists of the Italian Renaissance.
