When I left the Rib Lake camp yesterday morning, I headed for Timm's Hill, the highest point in Wisconsin, and enjoyed the beautiful view from the watch tower. I then discovered a sign pointing to High Point Village nearby and went there. I sat outside a very nice restaurant and had a cappuccino. Afterwards I had a chat with the hostess, Lyle …
I left Bemidji MN for Wisconsin this morning. I took Rt. 2 which took me through Duluth and I got my first view of Lake Superior. After arriving in Ashland, I took advantage of their walk away along the bay. I sent an hour or more just photographing the wildflowers and other views. After a nice dinner on the patio here at the hotel, I listened to a …
... I have been working on a chronology of her life; but what I remember now is her comment about leaving the US and 'flying to Europe'. This was the '50s and not many people had had this experience. She said in her letters; "Oh, if I had known what it was like to fly; I would have been a Stewardess." Well, she would write, send gifts, etc. about and from Germany while I was a young child. Stopped to photograph a great mural that adorned a drape protecting a building under renovation, and discovered several other murals in the small town.
We carried on travelling through Superior Wisconsin and then to Duluth
MN. Just as we entered Superior we noticed a large billboard advertising
new Ford vehicles with a 20 year, 200,000 MILE warranty!! Unfortunately
we were past it before we thought of taking a picture. Wish that could
be in Canada.

The hotel was built in the 1980s and has 80s features like the sink in the room and a very small bathroom (as in stand in tub to close door). The room was a good size and clean. Could use a chair so you don't need to sit on bed. The air conditioner is a wall unit but worked well.
