The hotel was built in the 1980s and has 80s features like the sink in the room and a very small bathroom (as in stand in tub to close door). The room was a good size and clean. Could use a chair so you don't need to sit on bed. The air conditioner is a wall unit but worked well.

Upper Wisconsin is forested like Oregon in many ways, but lakes majestically present themselves at every turn. Following "The Most Scenic Drives in America" recommendation, we traced the 'Wisconsin North Woods' tour. Amnican Falls gave us a good reason to stretch. The tannin influence of water color distracted from the falls charm. Bayfield, WI hosts the 22 Apostle Islands State park. A 3-hour cruise rendered a ...

... cold but we decided to go to Big Bay State Park on the island. We hiked for several miles along the shore of Lake Superior and were able to see some beautiful rock formations. We would have hiked longer but the winds along the shore and it being so cold we decided to cut our hike short. It is a nice island but not a place we would like to live in ...

Tomorrow we are taking a ferry over to the largest of the Apostle Islands, Madeline. There is a state park on the island with hiking to several sea caves and beautiful shorelines.

After a much needed warm nights rest we set off to complete the last few miles of the trail. The end seemed anti climactic....... Until a trail was found that led us to a rockey lakes edge with good picture opportunities. The trail was complete. Our trip north was over but our ...

After a good nights sleep we started on the road to cover some serious miles. Made good time all the way up to the chequamegon national forest where we were met with MANY challenges to include log jumping, water crossing, steep up hill and down hill slopes, washed out roads, swampy trails and........ Snow. Up to 2 1/2 feet to be exact, which made for a VERY long ride to the point where ...
