The hotel was built in the 1980s and has 80s features like the sink in the room and a very small bathroom (as in stand in tub to close door). The room was a good size and clean. Could use a chair so you don't need to sit on bed. The air conditioner is a wall unit but worked well.

When I left the Rib Lake camp yesterday morning, I headed for Timm's Hill, the highest point in Wisconsin, and enjoyed a beautiful view from the watch tower. I then discovered a sign pointing to High Point Village nearby and went there. I sat outside a very nice restaurant and had a cappuccino. Afterwards I had a chat with the hostess, Lyle …

... I've photographed my 4-lb can of peanut butter and new food box. I was fortunate to be directed toward a co-op (Lakewinds) with a great selection of dry bulk goods for the sampling. Thanks, Norm. I'll try to include some thoughts on meal prep on the road once I put some meals together. You people seem to like food talk. My kind of people.

... Islands are now forested with no inhabitants except for 1, but come with a rich history of survivalists who tried to live thru the grueling 4-5 winter months. Several islands have sandy beaches at 250-500' high where the water level once was millions of years ago. The colorful caves make us wonder about their past. Town of Bayfield reminds us of Port Townsend, WA....fun quirky shops and eateries on the water's ...

... cold but we decided to go to Big Bay State Park on the island. We hiked for several miles along the shore of Lake Superior and were able to see some beautiful rock formations. We would have hiked longer but the winds along the shore and it being so cold we decided to cut our hike short. It is a nice island but not a place we would like to live in ...

... the islands on Monday. This was a nice 3 hour cruise going around most of islands and several lighthouses. We also went by Devils Island which is the northernmost point of Wisconsin. Tomorrow we are taking a ferry over to the largest of the Apostle Islands, Madeline. There is a state park on the island with hiking to several sea caves and beautiful shorelines.
