      We will be staying in Sterling, Colorado after driving 127 miles from Denver. We spent $22.42 filling up gas and we ate dinner in the back of our car so we could have a little extra money. On the 22nd, we took a free tour of the Sterling US Post Office. We will spend the next couple of days walking around and shopping as well. And on the 23rd, we will be driving to Alliance, ...

      ... who undertook the thousand mile cattle drives, and turned this town into the "Gomorrah of the Wild West."

      We have moved on from Nebraska, where the few cattle we saw were in small enclosures that lacked a single blade of grass; to Colorado, where larger herds are grazing in open prairie - a happier sight.

      We got up around 6am had cereal with bananas in our room for breakfast and headed out a little before 7am this morning. Eastern Colorado is not as scenic as Western through the Rockies. We didn't see any evidence of any of the fires even though we were told that there were suppose to be flare ups on some of our roads.
