I spent a couple more days hanging out with the trail crew, swimming in rivers during the day and finding new pubs during the night. ... showers are short and it is warm so you dry out quickly. So apparently the thing to do is just get on with it. We duly didn't take an umbrella, but we weren't aware that a rain 'shower' in Portland, whilst generally short, actually is comparable to an English downpour. We got very wet!

My day off wasn't necessarily relaxing but it was quite fun. I went on a 6.3 mile ride into Gresham and went to a driving range, for the fun of it. After a nice lunch at the club, I rode home for another 6.3 miles, completing a round trip of 12.6 miles. The way home is ...
