When we did leave, the street in front of the campground was flooded, but vehicles were going by and, while we needed to drive slowly for a couple of blocks, we were able get out of town. Will was a little tentative at first -- he's not a big fan of dogs and there were two in residence -- but after a bit, he relaxed and let his silly flag fly -- a sure sign he feels comfy. He ate -- for the first time -- a cheeseburger off the grill! (I'm beginning to think that he might be willing ...

... guess what we saw? Turtles, lots and lots of turtles. Jumping turtles, tanning turtles, and ninja turtles. I recommend a trip on this river if you have a fetish for them. Travel this river! Now that I am coming out of the shell in this, let me get to the history of the name.
The name is said to have derived from an event in March of 1862 when Confederate troops were evacuating Washington County and had sent squads up and down ...
