As forecasted, the rain and wind began last evening, and continued to build during the night. We had reservations at Washington, NC today followed by three days at the Onslow Beach FAMCAMP on Camp Legeune, NC, so we debated leaving or staying here, hunkering down, and having to try to change our reservations. We kept looking at the weather maps on our cell phones, and finally decided to move around 10 am. I had unhooked everything but the power, but we still had ...
... down a little bit; kids were running around, free as birds. Everyone knew everyone (which I suppose could be both a good or bad thing), and folks just hanging out. It was nice. And it was nice to be able to go out and socialize with some of the team. There was one little blip when my directions, encased in a page protector, slipped aside the passenger seat and I had to pull over to hunt them down. Other than ...
The Tar River.....Sounds boring right? Surprisingly it's not. This river is 215 miles long and runs all the way out into the Pamlico Sound and although it upholds the name The "Tar" River, it is its history that is quite unique. It goes all the way back to the Civil War but for me it goes back two weekends ago where I had a very fun trip kayaking on the river with my friend Morgan.
We had dropped our kayak off at a boat ramp near ...
