Our First Summer Day!
Today was going to be a r&r day, just a few chores and some shopping. It was also, in truth for the first time this summer, genuinely warm and sunny. Sailing can be a SLOW business
We'd decided to set off relatively early for Kalmar as the forecasters this time all agreed that the wind would be from the south west and that it would be stronger in the afternoon, so we were off in a miniature convoy by 09:15, which is very early for the Smiths! They wanted us to take some photos of Odile under sail, to which of course we obliged and they kindly reciprocated, one photo of each boat duly presented here.

A Lesson Learned

We then had the Smiths over for G&T’s and a catch-up, hearing about their Göta canal adventures and deciding that we must do that one year. Traveling on
On our way. Kalmar has been lovely. We walked through a beautiful neighborhood and several parks. Flowers and vegetables and the Swedes and their children enjoying the summer sun. The hotel is large and nice. We had laundry done here as Ron could not find a self service one, much to his disappointment. Doing laundry in a foreign country and getting a haircut are highlights for Ron-a slice of real life. Kalmar is full ...
The people
... plentiful, huge, bushes/climbing, all kinds/colors. We can not figure how they grow with what seems to be so little sun. We are in Kalmar, Sweden today. It is on the eastern coast on the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea. Very cute town with a wonderfully restored castle - Kalmar Castle - complete with a huge moat. The castle was restored in the early 1900's and it is a very interesting place. The ...
