... to book the next trip to St Malo, which according to our Eurail app is a one change train trip. We might have a Eurail Global pass which covers all rail travel throughout Europe, but it does not cover the cost of reservation of seats on fast trains and that is compulsory. In France it costs 18 Euros each to reserve seats; supposedly all paid for? Dream on!

Needless to say, even the boneheads at Garmin can't differentiate the standard of one D road to another, neither can I. It could be brilliant or a complete patchwork quilt, it's a lottery.
The day was dull and overcast but dry.
Me and Will set off, bright and early, about 12.30pm, grabbed an N road out of Nantes and then hit the D roads.

After an early start, 7am, we were just drinking our breakfast tea when the thunder storm we'd been seeing all around for an hour hit us. Back in tents to shelter for a half hour of torrential rain before emerging to pack wet tents and pedal on our way. Varied country lanes, coffee in Blain, then lunch and tent drying at a picnic spot beside the canal. Onto Nantes municipal campsite about 8.15, dinner drinks and welcome showers. Now off to bed. ...
