After settling into our hotel we walked about .8 of a mile to the Skydeck " formally the Sears tower". Weather was in high 40's and foggy/ sunshine. I had bought Go Passes ahead of time so no waiting in lines except for a short wait for the elevators. We had to take 3 different ones to make it all the way up to the 103rd floor. We were all nervous as we were scrunched into a packed elevator with about ...

... We ventured out for a 5km walk that took us alongside the river and north-east into areas closer to S&M's previous apartment. A quick stop at the Whole Foods supermarket was in order to get some freshly baked bread for lunch. We are all heading off to a ...

... I relaxed my no museum rule for a little while and visited the Museum of Science and Industry (where the best things were a miniature fairyland castle put together by a 1920s film star whose name I can't bring to mind right now, and an exhibition of Walt Disney memorabilia which was actually worth the extra money I had to pay for it), and the Art Institute of Chicago (which was really good because it had loads of impressionist paintings, plus that really ...

Chicago: did it burn in vain? You decide.

A travel blog entry by isy14 on May 11, 2014

... We headed into Chicago and made our way to the planetarium. The location of this is pretty breathtaking; it sits by Chicago's lakeside and with your back to the building, you can take in views of the city line over the lake. The planetarium provided various shows in rooms with reclining chairs and domes which make up the ceiling. Pictures and videos of stars and space projected onto this dome with a commentator providing information about space and the galaxies within ...
