      Our home away from home

Our home away from home. We stay here at the beginning or end of every trip. Rooms are comfortable and the motel is just minutes, with a free shuttle, from the airport. We leave our car here for two weeks of free parking and low rates for the remaining days of our longer trips.

Good place to stay. I was too young back then so I can't comment on the technicalities but all I say is that I have good memories from that place. Specially the breakfast chocolate muffins. Grab them before they run out!

Great place for stay, park and fly!

We travel often but have to drive several hours to reach the San Francisco airport. El Rancho is the place to stay. There is free shuttle service 24hrs/day every half hour. Rooms are clean and comfortable with free wi-fi and you can park up to 14 days for free ($5/day thereafter). Upon your return, if you chose to stay another night, you get a substantial discount on your room. We've been doing this several times a year for about 10 years now and wouldn't think of staying elsewhere.

... We were on the tram by 6:40am and heading to pier 33 to catch the ferry to the infamous Alcatraz. Believe it or not, Alcatraz Island is less than 5 min by ferry. Maximum security prison with the countries most dangerous personalities at San Francisco's door step. No wonder it closed.

The tour was spectacular. For three hours we were absorbed by the stories coming to life through the audio tour, narrated by the accounts of past inmates. Kids were absorbed as ...

... t ask me how they reached the top of those enormous hills with all the people on, he was only using a big iron leaver back and forth for breaks aswell. That took us all the way down to fisherman's wharf. We got to pier 45 where there was loads going on, lots of sidewalk singers and music going on, one man playing his saxophone and those metal bongo drums which make you feel like your in Jamaica. We went for food in one of the seafood restaurants opposite it, really nice! ...

... own walking tour around the wharf, through china town and little Italy. There was so much to see with cool little shops and parks everywhere. We decided the next day to hire bikes to cover more distance and headed towards Crissy field and the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately everyone else seemed to have the same idea and there were bike groups everywhere! We met an older couple from Brisbane who were ...
