... Amtrak route is experiencing a "service disruption" and we had to ride the bus across the Rockies--a very long eight hours, but very pretty. As we approached the rockies, we could see snow on the peaks and some of the higher ski runs but as we started moving further east, we could see snow on the ground and it was sticking. ... single-day viewing experiences listed. What's this? Hadn't seen those on the site before (perhaps because I was so focused on the Paris grandstands). Hold on, go back.....that one.......Alpe d'Huez. Yeah, that legendary mountain climb that they're doing twice in one day, this year. The one that we'd decided we were going to avoid entirely because the crowds are so ridiculous, and you'd have to camp out for 2 or 3 days to get a spot on one of ...

Well, it's within sight. We leave on June 26 (though I took my sweet time booking those, doing it just last week), and come back July 23.

I did manage to get a campervan booked (turns out, I maybe didn't need to worry quite so much, as I had a company follow up with me about a month ago, wondering if I still needed a vehicle), and managed to find a place to stay in Porto-Vecchio that ...
