    Nice hotel well suited to our little road trip. Ist floor has traditional open balconies which I quite like. Nice pool & breakfast too.

    We left Austin and travelled via Georgetown which has a well preserved turn of the 20th century main square, court house & heritage buildings. We found real ice cream via the tourist information office again and a nice museum in the old bank building, which had a fascinating feature on the first prosecution of the Ku Klux Klan.

    Small town livingThis did not feel much different then the local get togethers from the little town I grew up in.     two of our dear friends, bonnie and isabella lost their dogs while we were gone and that was sad. and two friends died while we were gone, one a very close friend in boulder, there was not time to go and say good-bye to her. on the other hand, several of our friends got married while we were gone, since new mexico legalized gay marriage!

    On the way south by 915. Temp was 38 & WINDY. Lori called to report -15 in MN! Road to Austin area lots of construction. Off freeway at Georgetown thru "hill country" Texas. Just Ieft town of Marbel Falls- was large & water/ dam - nice ! It is 1 pm & we have miles to Johnson city good' will stay a few days to see Pres LBJ ranch & boyhood home.
