Mom and I had a leisurely 5 hour drive from Kelliher, SK to Swift Current, Sk. We stopped in Chaplin to take a tour of the nature centre. They had some great bird displays and lots of pelicans which are abundant on Lake Manitou and at many locations in Saskatchewan.

Chaplin has a large sodium sulphate mine beside the nature centre. Sodium …

VAL MARIE TO SWIFT CURRENT TO CHAPLIN
The village of Val Marie fades in the distance as we head north towards Swift Current. The land rolls more gently now. Earth and sky open out to the horizon. And so very vast. Before I get into my Christmas adventures, thought I better give you an update on what happened before Christmas (if I can remember). I was busy babysitting a few different families like always - lots of social things and 'date nights' so I was in high demand. Some events (in short): - Kenzie competed in her ...

... and we have had 2 days of rain and wind since. This has been the first bad weather to date. Unfortunately Brenda has had to work every day so we have only see her in the evenings. She teaches to grade 8 in a Hutterite community about an hours drive from here. Lac Pelletier is a summer holiday place but Brenda has decided to live here year round now. There is a small community of locals all very friendly and willing to have a ...
