    ... at 4 hours. As soon as I deplaned in SFO I upgraded my return to first class for $159. Times have certainly changed.

    My friend picks me up and we head into the city for dinner at a familiar falafel shop. After, we drive back to his place in Cupertino and make some minor final packing changes. Wake-up call tomorrow is 3:45am (5:45 central, so not so bad).

    ... in progress. Today the Palace of Fine Arts has been completely rebuilt in concrete, replacing the wood and plaster original structure that was only meant to last the duration of the fair. It IS breath-taking to say the least, and set in very beautiful gardens.

    What I should say too is that 'The Palace of Fine Arts' holds no 'arts' at all - it is simply art in itself. It is not used as a museum, or art galley or anything else, it simply exists in it's own right.

    ... I found it quite charming, while Gonzalo hated these never-ending uphills and downhills. Lombard Street is famously known as the crookedest street in the world although itīs neither the crookedest street in San Francisco nor the steepest. While Gonzalo stayed downstairs I climbed 253 steps so as to get a nicer view. There are 8 switchbacks and 12 flowerbeds with over 2,000 blue and purple hydrangeas. The flowers are manicured all year long. The street is used for weddings, ...
