Spent most of the day sewing with my new quilt bee friends. Kids coming back from Grand Cayman tonight. So many things to do! After our bee group got packed up, Lucy and I went to Petco to buy two months of food. On our way to the airport, found out that Maggie and James Mowad's flight was cancelled. James Griffin was on a different flight, so I continued to the airport. James and I had a great dinner ...

We are now in Texas! Coincidently, we are in the city of Conroe, which is the "birthplace of the Lone Star Flag". Much of the early 'state of Texas’ history originated in this area, with early settlers trying to gain their freedom from Mexico. During the late 1830’s Sam Houston arrived, organized a militia, and became the first Governor. Not long after that we arrived via our RV, organized a few day trips, and became two ...

GPS may not always be the best directions

A travel blog entry by georgeandlisa on Feb 25, 2014

... track several times. This day was probably our most challenging for me. We followed the GPS exactly, but it did not seem to have a clear idea of where we were supposed to be going; or specifically how we should get there. I was so afraid we were going to make a mistake and end up in Houston. We have had several people tell us they would drive 100 miles out of the way to avoid pulling an RV ...

      Double Lake Park/Big Ring Challenge

The Big Ring Challenge in Coldspring, TX (near Houston) was a Big Success! We were able to take vacation on Friday so headed that way around 9 AM. We took the scenic route through the Sam Houston National Forrest which was just gorgeous. We arrived a bit early, but they let us check in with no problem. We set up camp and went for our first pre-ride. We'd ridden this trail before, so nothing shocking, but there was a bit of new trail ...
