          Unplanned cuteness in Bern

A travel blog entry by chantell87 on Jul 09, 2015

... bike around the town. Sadly the parliament was closed to visitors due to important meetings. We made it to the Rose garden where here you can take in an amazing view of the city. Bern melts your heart with its cuteness. It was a bit chiller this day and the river was running much faster so we opted to not swim in it. But it has a beautiful blue that contrasted nicely with the brown of the buildings. After returning our bikes we had ...

To burn or not to Bern

... to Susanne and Andreas’ place.

          They have a pool, ok?

So guess what I did as soon as I was back home…no I didn’t go swimming.

I got a chair, sat it right in front of the pool (a sticky-out-of-the-ground one) and let my feet dangle in there while I just sat.

It was so peaceful and such a great ending to my day in Bern. And to finish with a terrible joke, I didn’t even Bern.

          Ok, I will go now.

Heidi Land Part 3 - Swiss Time

How cute and perfect Heidi land is! If we thought Interlaken and Lucerne seemed irresistibly perfect and quintessentially Swiss, our few days with Susan and Marina and their farming families outside of Bern was purely gorgeous and wholesome. From the homemade African elephant cookies iced with 'Welcome to Switzerland' on our arrival to the scrumptious breakfast of farm fresh milk, eggs, cheese and bread served with Mum's own jam, we were very much made to feel like we were ...

          Tram ride through Bern

          ... you pass.

Right on time at 09h54 we departed Interlaken and our fast journey to Bern began.

It was now coffee time and I was volunteered to go and collect the coffee's. Of course this meant finding the shop and as we were seated in the very last coach it was a long walk through this very spacious train.

Finally after walking through about 8 or 9 coaches I finally made it to the dining car. Here was the main coffee shop selling all kinds of things from hot ...

          Murten/Southern Switzerland

... but we have had better during our travels. We also shared a caramel latte, made Viennese style where they layer the different parts of the drink (caramel syrup, coffee and frothed milk) which was delicious! We continued walking through Interlaken before we had to head back to the train station and catch the train back to Murten - another three trains: Interlaken - Bern, Bern to Kerzers, Kerzers to Murten. Quite a long trip but easy enough, especially as we had just done it ...
