We have really enjoyed our five days in Germany. There were a couple of things that really surprised us. One was the number of motorbikes of various types that we saw used. Perhaps this was just because we were in the Black Forest and the roads encouraged holidaymakers and the long week-end drivers. It was also quite a bit colder than Lausanne so I put my long pants on top of my shorts and put on my hoodie. I started by going towards the bear park. I walked down this old road, which only allow street cars and select cars. It was unique because of all the flags hanging from the buildings. ...

... gardens went from rain forest, to regular forest to desert. The outside gardens were all pretty much dead, but the paths were still pretty. The garden was right along a river so we walked along the river for a bit. There was a neat pedestrian bridge underneath the giant train bridge. The water in the river was perfectly see–through and so beautiful. John said it was like that because it came from a glacier.

Our slow walk back to the hostel brought ...
