Our accommodation was about 30 mins south-east of Vaasa. The surrounding countryside is lovely, green and dotted with quaint old timber farmhouses, 90% of them painted a dark red colour. Gideon and Margit were my mother Elsie's cousins, as their fathers were brothers. I had been to the family property on Replot Island when I came with my mom in 1996, and I remembered all the out buildings and the mosquitoes. We left before noon and because the engine on the ...

A few showers, wind, and even a bit if thunder happened overnight, but not until after 3 am as Megan and I battled a pesky mosquito overnight and either we killed it or we gave up and finally fell asleep. We slept in until after 10:30 am which was fine because they all seem to sleep in late anyway. The clouds in the morning looked ominous but a good wind was blowing and it wasn't long until the skies were clear. After the usual breakfast Megan and I went to the east dock ...
