to Evisa, famed for its chestnut forests and on to Cortes, in the central
mountain area. We camped at the foot of Gorge Restonica, but were unable to
take the van up the gorge, as it is too big, and the heat was so excessive,
walking to the lakes was out of the question for us. You know what they say

Saturday Today we were back on the bikes again, heading up the coast towards the northern tip of Corsica. It was a lovely windy road a bit like the Great Ocean Road, though a little less dramatic, with patches of shade, little villages and desert. ... dinner. The hotel here just serves snacks. So we walked a short distance down hill to a little Italian place. Eldon had pizza, it was not good. I had the tagliatelle with ragu. My dinner was VERY good. We had our usual wine, got back to the room and got ready for bed. Eldon made arrangements for a taxi at 6:45 tomorrow morning. We have to be at the dock an hour before the 8:00 ferry ...

... before touring the Bastia museum. The old town was very pretty and looked like a lot of work had been done to restore places and is constantly ongoing. The museum was quite contemporary and built into the old city walls. The design was intriguing but somewhat disappointing inside. We both felt it was a strong on historical facts but non-existent on what life was really like at ...
