Wonderful hotel to stay. Even though it was very busy the room was extremely quiet to sleep in. Good wifi, tea, coffee and all were supplied in the room together with good soaps and all. Certainly one of the best hotels on my travels and I would certainly stay here again.

... wouldn’t it. In order to leave Ålborg in an easterly directon, there are in fact two bridges to negotiate, within a few hundred metres of each other. The first, the railway bridge, will open when they see you, provided there is no train due within 15 minutes. We decided to try for it at 09:25 and indeed, it was open but is shut within a couple of minutes of our passing through. We were then effectively trapped between the two bridges and had ...

... museum on the site. Whilst we do enjoy visiting museums such as these and indeed the displays, including whole skeletons are very well done, there comes a time that the draw of the rare, lovely outside weather proves too much so we ended our stay, leaving the museum after a quick sandwich in the restaurant (£16.00 for a slice of bread each with some salami and ham ie an open sandwich and a cup of coffee, not the best value for money we’d ever ...

... boat for the Southern Hemisphere winter on the western coast of Patagonia, ie the Chilean side. Intrepid people.

We carried on chatting for an hour or so and at about 23:00, our re-acquainted friends bade their farewells, they are off to Hals in the morning, the harbour at the eastern entrance to the Limfjord. As they were leaving we noted something extremely unusual, unique even, it was actually quite warm! It felt like a summer’s evening, at ...

... sandwiches (smorrebrod) on rye bread. Particularly served with a seafood topping. I can eat those. It is also a big university town with 20% of residents being students. Today was obviously the start of a university break as a large truck of very loud students dressed as sailors, swigging beers and singing were riding around the streets. While in Sweden we saw a similar end of year celebration. It was harmless fun which appears ...

... that the whole world can understand Danish and so make 90% of their information boards in their local language.

After a short drive we arrived in Aalborg and having learned from our parking in Skagen we found some free parking on the outskirts of the city center before riding into the city on our bikes. The city is very old with some buildings dating back to the 1700's. We spent a bit of time just drifting around and taking in the atmosphere before ...
