Wonderful hotel to stay. Even though it was very busy the room was extremely quiet to sleep in. Good wifi, tea, coffee and all were supplied in the room together with good soaps and all. Certainly one of the best hotels on my travels and I would certainly stay here again.

... well tolerated by everyone else. We arrived in Aalborg about 5.30pm so as soon as we had dropped our cases in our room we went for a walk along the foreshore to the old town. It was incredible the number of people out in the street and dining in outdoor restaurants. The sun is out and so are all the Danes. We eventually found a nice restaurant in the town square and ate chicken salads and wine in the pleasant early evening ...
We awoke to a strong cold wind blowing in from the west. Our plan was to check out the city of Aalborg before beginning our trip out of Denmark and back to Switzerland. On the way into Aalborg we came across an ancient Viking Burial Site that dated back to around 600AD. ... that took us through the bush on some off-road tracks which made the trip good fun.
After a good braai we climbed into bed for a well-deserved rest. At 2.30am I was awoken by the call of nature. On looking outside I saw that the sky was still light and in fact looked like a sunrise or sunset in progress. One could see quite clearly even though there was no moon. The midnight sun I guess…….really a beautiful ...
Onto Hobro which looked like a pretty scummy town / city but was our gateway to Fyrkat, the Viking Fortress and reconstructed farmstead. The fortress is from 980 in Harald Bluetooth's time (Google will tell you all about it if you're interested!) We had great fun wandering around the two sites, re-enacting the Viking ways! Back on the road to Auning for a two ...
... very tired of traveling, when we decided not to go. I just have to go to Rome and Venice with Anni another time.
I was in charge of making the maps and there are some things we should have done to make that easier for me. Either we should have taken a picture of every place we went (with names of the places) so we could find them again or we should have had some kind of GPS device to map all the places.
As always, I have small regrets like why didn't ...
