... mer and Sari had recently been for a city break to Prague and were quite taken with the beer there. David had to agree that the dark Kozel beer was very good.

We were quite late in arriving and it was great catching up over drinks, but we were very conscious that both Sari and Ímer were working in the morning, and early at that. Sari had to be at the airport for 5am and Ímer wouldn't be too far behind so we called it a night to allow them at least a little bit of ...

Vodka, knives, and saunas "au naturelle"

A travel blog entry by maryham on Sep 08, 2014

... Tanja insisted that she take us by her house to meet her family and, as it turned out, give us Vodka to drink! I think I had mentioned the Vodka stereotype too many times she felt obliged to give us some! Unfortunately, no-one took a knife out after the Vodka! We got to meet her husband and daughter and her parents who live next door as well. We even got to check out the sauna but sadly didn’t get a chance to try it. Next ...

Christina, our guide, and Markos, our driver, took us on a fairly good tour around Helsinki this morning with a few photo stops - which are the most important, and most accessible places. All very good. I think we were both quite satisfied by all of it. Helsinki is a lovely city. Quite clean and orderly. It did rain for about half an hour, but not heavy. We were told that were many wifi hotspots around town so we sat ourselves in a ...
