... The Older church is no longer used but well maintained. It has exposed original mosaic flooring in places and frescos cove parts of the walls,. Some of these are in fairly good condition. There is a large wooden cross on one wall with somewhere below it where the locals can light a candle. It turns out that this is the Baptistry of the Newer church. The newer church next door is very ornate. A man is playing the organ so we do not take any photos or stay long. The TD ...

      ... loved this city.

I arrived at possibly the most beautiful train station in the world, where I met Cristina before heading to her place.

One of the things I loved most about Milan was the graffiti and Street art. There is a lot of bad graffiti around the city, adding to the grungy feel I loved so much, but if you keep your eyes open you will spot some masterpieces waiting to ...

With the mountains behind us the scenery becomes far less dramatic. Northern Italy appears to be very flat. It is mainly Farmland and there is sweet corn growing everywhere. But further along the weather improved and we have another view of the Alp way off in the distance. Again it is spectacular.

We arrive eventually at Milano and get a cab to Hotel San Giovanni. Both the cab ...

... which is the canal district. It looks like a mini version of venice. Its a beautiful area with nice restaurants, cafeterias, small shops and bars. I found a really cute cottage looking house which was actually a restaurant. It’s hard to believe that places like this exist within a stones throw of the super busy Milan city centre.

The Duomo of Milan is stunning, it is the third largest church in Christendom with a staggering ...
