So on October 30 - we visited several wineries - tasted various c******nay types - visited a family owned winery a purchase a few bottles of pouilly fuisse - my favorite - had a great dinner at the B and B
October 31 - visited Cluny and the Abbey - the revolutionaries in 1790 destroyed the most beautiful abbey -- we seen this a lot throughout France - we then went to a 1600 chateau - beautiful visit.
Sunday 12 October
The weather did not cooperate today with heavy rain so we had a leisurely breakfast. Isobelle makes her own jams of various types and fruit comports as well as a type of quince paste that goes with goats cheese . That, on top of croissants, filled us up for the day.
She created an interesting display in the hallway ...

fields, woods and a vineyard. Isobelle Murard runs the chateau by herself with help from her nephew. Her husband, whose project it was to take in paying guests, died at age 50 only two years ago.

When the others got back we went up,to the tour directors meeting, followed by a fire drill, then we were invited up to the top deck by the captain to watch our departure from Chalon-sur-Saone to Tournus which is just over 3 hours away, the crew handed out glasses of bubbly to everyone, so was very pleasant. We then got ready for the Captain's dinner at 7.15pm with a set menu, lovely meal, although noisy & was a long ...
... rotisserie poulet & beer! When the veau arrived it turned out to be a jellied meat, rather like head cheese, served hot with girbiche sauce (maybe tartar sauce?), very delicious, but an unusual texture, not for all palates, I'm sure, but it worked for me! A local specialty tried, tick!!
Another wander through the market, across the bridge and back to the car for the drive back ...
