Tom Tom has a penchant for excitement!

It was the day that Tom Tom really came into play! We knew that the mountain roads would be closed for Le Tour but nobody was able to tell us what time exactly! We started early and very soon encountered the gendarmerie closing roads - it was chaos...camper van drivers throwing fists at police, barriers closing roads. We seemed just one step ahead for most of the time...like a couple of criminals in the get away car! We came to one crossroads and didn't ...

... we were there. Then back by bus to the bikes and the van. We drove to Avranches and got the last spot in the Aire which was only about 5 min walk to town. After dinner we went for a walk around town following a walking trail. Nice enough but unfortunately it was heavily bombed during the war so not a lot of old interesting architecture. Back to the van where we watched the breaking news about the Malaysian airline crash over Ukraine. We went back into town the ...

    Hot on the Mont

A travel blog entry by 2and2 on Jul 17, 2014

Getting out of our car in the farthest reaches of the parking lot the heat hit us. It was smoking hot, luckily we got to cram into a bus sardine style instead of walking the 5 km through the muddy wastelands to get into the Mont a Unesco heritage site. It was pretty fabulous from far away it was cool up close too but the thousands of people cramming around you, kind of took something away from the experience. We shoved our way up the steep winding ramp past gift shops, hotels ...

Writing this before we leave Dinan. Having turned dark (at 10.30pm) before I could finish last night I can't get it to publish in the right order this morning. So this is a retrospective... The end of yesterday. The trials of blogging... So time consuming, but it makes me write and it's my own diary to look back on. Who knows when/if I'll come again. I've not even begun to sort through my proper photos - managing to take ...

We made it in just the nick of time to arrive in Dover to catch the ferry across to France. We cut it so fine that our car was last to get on and Luke, Kate and the kids had to wait for the next boat, thankfully it was only an hour later. We arrived in France and stressfully familiarised ourselves with new road rules as we searched for a petrol station, we still are not sure exactly who ...
