Today was our last day in Washington, before getting the Amtrak to Chicago in the afternoon. First of all just to say that our place to stay with airbnb was really good! We stayed near H Street, and we went to &Pizza and had possibly the most garlicky pizza of my life. Also managed to track down a good bottle of wine, and chilled out for the night watching Parks and Recreation on Netflix. A much needed rest! Back to today. We went to the Smithsonian Air and ...

DC was a perfect convergence. Realized on our way in that our dear friend Heaven Edwards, who had taken the train from SF to New York for the peoples climate march, was already couch surfing in the DC area, so she joined us for our DC explorations, or rather our stroll down memory lane. Just a few miles out of town is the Drake Well Museum where the petroleum industry got its start. That was fascinating - not your ...

This trip coincided with Donelle's birthday and a weekend so we decided to go away to celebrate by visiting the famous Frank Lloyd Wright designed Fallingwater. Our road trip took us through three states, over big rolling heavily wooded hills and finishing in Maryland at the Savage River Lodge. We stopped in a tiny town off the highway to fill up with petrol and have lunch because we spotted a cafe. Turns out when we went in it wasn't a cafe but a gambling den, no coffee to be had. That ...

I have never really had an amazing 4th of July until this passed year! Jon, a friend of a friend was a stranger to me, we had never met before but I did not want to make the 3 hour drive alone. This stranger boy met me at my work and we drove up north together not knowing what to expect. I realized I loved that kid he was awesome! We talked the whole way up with no awkward moments whatsoever. We made it up to in Deep creek to a family friend ...
