Up early as we were off on the optional extra to "Cesky Krumlov in Czech Republic", (another country) the Jewel of Bohemia, a quaint town that is protected by UNESCO & must be restored to its former medieval glory.

Our second home exchange was in southern Bavaria about 125 kilometres from Munich for 2 weeks. Penny joined us in a large house set in an equally large wooded garden. Pfarrkirchen and other towns in the region are really nice, Passau being my favourite. The buildings are mostly painted pastel colours.

Day 2 on our bikes. The ducks wake us up bright and early. We begin our ride stopping very quickly at an adorable Gasthof for a warm cup of kaffee while waiting for the ferry which didn't arrive! The sweet Austrian lady did try to tell us something... It must have been that the ferry is no longer running! So we continue on the left bank, hoping the terrain remains flat.
