Great night's sleep, makes a big difference not having light coming in from 3:30! Woke at ~8:15. Got a message from John saying he has arrived, so invited him up (no room ready for him yet) and offered him a shower; gratefully accepted. The three of us went out for breaky at a place in Ave Franklin Roosevelt; ok. Returned to hotel and got our stuff for a Louvre expedition; headed off to find a FNAC store to get Louvre tickets. ... tourists. Despite being just early May, there are tourists everywhere - I am pleased we are not in Paris in July. We have managed to find some quiet moments amongst the noise and haste...a respite in an Ile St Louis creperie for lunch, a poignant walk through the Deportation Memorial to the 200,000 French deported during Nazi occupation and the beautiful light at sunset at the Sacre Couer Cathedral - such a commanding location and so peaceful once inside.
... The next morning, Tracy and I woke up early for mass. We ate breakfast at the hostel, stored our stuff in the hostel lockers, then walked to the Notre-Dame. We had asked our hostel front desk what time mass was and he said 9 so we headed out about 8:15. It was also daylights savings time so the sun was rising on our walk.
