After homemade brekky at our place we went to the local beach, 15 minutes walk away for a swim. It was hard and rocky and hurt our feet. But the water was incredibly clean and extremely salty, which meant were very, very buoyant. In fact it would be very difficult to drown in the Adriatic Sea. Lovely sensation to be held up so firmly in the water. A great metaphor for ...

Our tour leader is very accomplish local lady, about our age, who has lived through the war, survived on one liter of water per week, for three weeks, been without electricity for three weeks, has a Ph.D in Botany, and knows this part of the world like the back of her hand. We are very lucky to have her as our guide. Amongst other ...

Alright, before we got here I was freaked. Really freaked that this was some weird, war torn, unsafe country. I had visuals of Ak-47 wearing rebels running the streets by bullet ridden buildings. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Seriously, this place is the most un-foreign foreign country we’ve ever visited. It is safe and civil and more modern that most places we've been in Europe.

Walk into a mall in Croatia and you’d think you were in any ...
