... of the mosaics look like paintings. The tiles themselves range from a quarter inch to half inch for images of religious figure. Larger tiles for floors. The size and number of mosaics is really impressive and must have taken a long time to complete. Kathy took a lot of photos of the sites we visited.

The spagetti primi platti I had was divine and was simply egg spagetti, butter, pepper and flakes of parmesan. Something I have learnt on this trip is that the Italians do not drench their pasta with sauce, the sauce is actually quite sparse.

So we thought after San Marino we would make an effort to check out Rimini and we are glad we did! The center city used to be an old Roman town that was quite wealthy. We also found a memorial to the Canadian soldiers who liberated the city in WWII. There is still one gate remaining aprox 2000 years old that used to be part of the old city walls.
