the safety barriers are bent all to hell. It must have been quite a violent event. Glad I wasn't riding by when it happened. But within half an hour the digger has cleared the major rubble from the road and I can carry on through.

I climb up to the remarkable village of Roubion, perched on the mountain side with no visible means of support, either physical or financial. But there ...

Visit to the old soap factory where L'Occitane en Provence all started. The town of Manosque was on our way so we decided to look in on L'Occitane en Provence which was started by a 23year old guy who bought a still from an old farmer. The farmer rattled off how to use it expecting the guy to just go away and get it right but he realised the farmer had been distilling oils for decades so enlisted his help to learn. He started off with sage and then ...

... red light I encountered while still descending into town.

Nevertheless I arrived at the hotel dry and unscathed, only minutes ahead of both the rain and the van, which was pretty good timing indeed.

The others, I am sad to report, once again did not fare as well, but at least no one encountered the hail that had preceded our arrival. And if the forecast holds true, this should the last of the wet weather, at least for a wile.
