Asperes. Still in Rhone Valley/Provence. Aire is really nice, quite and spacious. Brilliant Services. Right next to tourist office. Good English. Run down town suffering from Serres, the next town along being a real tourist hot spot! But we liked it. As we go north the Aires thin out so we follow where the few are. It's funny and ironic. We choose a place to stay and then see several more un reported Aires along the way. This one ...

Sisteron. Still in Rhone Valley. Large bustling town. Aire is rubbish really. We got lucky and got the only marked bay big enough. Still worth trying as town is very interesting. What can I say about today? Well firstly, I chased Elvis once again on my bike. Not such a good idea given the crazy head winds. Les Mees and it's wonderful rocky back drop was a welcome loo break and munch you bar moment before going back into ...

... to be a sweet spot surrounded on either side by dark and menacing skies. The ride up was unspectacular, reminiscent of the climb through Crawford Notch in New Hampshire, which on one side is just a long, straight, steady slog; this raises the question: is a Col without a switchback really just a notch? At any rate, by the time I reached the top the sun had emerged, which was fortunate since the descent to Gap is rather fast. ...

... have a little look around. One village called St Jullien Beauchine really caught our attention as it was in the middle of nowhere and on the main drag. We parked Charlie and crossed the road to have a little look. Just perfect to look at and walk around in. People actually live there, how, we do not know as everything is so old and difficult to get at. As per usual the church is situated on the top of the ...
